Excessive fat under the chin or double chin can leave an individual looking overweight, out of shape, or older than they are. This condition can be hereditary or due to weight fluctuations over the years. Belkyra, also known as Kybella, is a less invasive and excellent non-surgical option to treat a double chin. This treatment involves an active ingredient called deoxycholic acid which is chemically similar to bile acid which is produced in the liver, stored in the gallbladder, and released when we need to digest fats. After a thorough consultation it would be determined if you are a good candidate as there are other causes for a double chin appearance. Usually, 4-5 treatments spaced 4-8 weeks apart are necessary. The cost will depend on the size of the area needed to be treated. After numbing cream is applied to the area and cleaning small injections 1 cm apart are administered with a small needle. Possible after-effects include redness, swelling and bruising.
